The Haywood Coalition came together in November 2008 with a public meeting of churches, helping agencies and concerned citizen in Haywood County that wanted to address the issues of homelessness and poverty in Haywood County.

The early meetings in November and December led to the opening of Haywood County’s first homeless shelter the Monday before Christmas in 2008.
